Westminster Christian completed the 2015 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Westminster Christian finished sixth in Class 4A region seven with a 3-4 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. Since 2010, Westminster Christian has gone a combined 39-24. Their 62.0% winning percentage ranks 19th in Class 4A over the past six seasons. Over the past 11 seasons, Westminster Christian has managed to compile a record of 56-56. Their 50.0% winning percentage ranks 28th in Class 4A and 191st in the AHSAA. Their last losing season was 2009. After seven seasons at Westminster Christian, Stephen Hooks stepped down as the head football coach in January to become the Head of School. His teams went 42-31 with a couple of playoff spots, the first in team history. Prior to arriving at Westminster, He served as the head football coach at American Christian for fourteen seasons with a 129-42 record. His overall coaching record stands at 171-73 after 21 seasons at the two schools. His teams went 21-14 in the playoffs and won nine region championships. Louis LeBlanc takes over the football program at Westminster Christian after serving as defensive coordinator the past three seasons at the school. He spent seven seasons with Hooks at American Christian, worked as a graduate assistant at Alabama and was an assistant coach at West Georgia prior to rejoining Hooks at Westminster. This will be his first head coaching job. The Westminster Christian Wildcats will play in Class 4A region seven during the 2016 season. Region seven will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. It will be an uphill battle for the Wildcats if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region seven this season. The Wildcats open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent New Hope on Friday, August 19 at Jack Mitchell Stadium. Last year the New Hope Indians finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in first place in Class 3A region seven. The Indians lost in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs to Lauderdale County by a score of 48-0. Westminster Christian and New Hope have met a total of 8 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 7-1-0 record against the Indians. They last met in 2015 with Westminster Christian winning by a score of 21-7. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
